Bayern (Munich) won German Super Cup for 8th time
Bayern (Munich) won another trophy – the German Super Cup, after winning 3: 2 over Borussia (Dortmund) in a spectacle at the empty “Allianz Arena.” Joshua Kimmich was the hero for the Bavarians, with his goal in the 82nd minute. Before that, Hansi Flick’s players missed a two-goal lead, and Borussia was not far from a complete turnaround.
The 127th edition of Der Classic did not disappoint. The opponents played openly and with the main focus on the attack in mind. Bayern drew 2-0 after Corentin Tolisso and Thomas Müller, but Julian Brant and Erling Holland restored the hopes of the “yellow-blacks.” In the end, however, the hosts rejoiced and added a fifth trophy in their window from the beginning of the year.
Bayern avenged Dortmund‘s loss in the award dispute last season. Then Borussia won 2-0 and triumphed with the Super Cup for the 6th time. Today, Lucien Favre’s team could catch up with their big rival but failed.
So far they have won 5 titles for the season
Both teams suffered surprising losses over the weekend. Tired of the 120 minutes against Sevilla for the European Super Cup and without their goalscorer Robert Lewandowski, Bayern collapsed during their visit to Hoffenheim – 1: 4. This was the first defeat for the Bavarians in 2020, after the team of Hansi Flick was undefeated in 32 matches.
