Zinedine Zidane made seven changes before Saturday’s El Clásico against Barcelona. Captain Sergio Ramos was not in the group for the match at all due to a blow from the loss to Cadiz and so his place was taken by Éder Militão. Ferland Mendy was retrained as a right back. There were also two new names in the midfield compared to the last game – Casemiro and Federico Valverde. The attack was completely changed. Rodrigo and Marco Asensio played on the wings, and Luka Jovic also started as a starter.
Shakhtar Donetsk was seriously hit by the coronavirus, and as many as ten players from their first team missed the match because of virus. The Ukrainians still managed to gather enough players for the match, as their starting lineup consisted of eight players aged 23 or less. A 4-2-3-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Dentinho.
