Political arrests are the reason for the change in Vietnam Formula One Grand Prix
The historic first race for the Vietnam Formula One Grand Prix, which was canceled earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will not be held in 2021. This was stated by the BBC, according to which the change is directly related to the arrest of the chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi – Nguyen Duc Chun, and a Reuters source confirmed that the race is not included in the program.
Formula 1 has not yet commented on the case officially, but it is expected to happen today. The Formula 1 calendar has not yet been approved by the FIA, but for now, the only new destination is expected to be Saudi Arabia. Next season may include 23 rounds despite the absence of Vietnam.
